What makes addictive games so addictive? Generally, they tend be games that don’t take long to play. However, they provide a challenge of some sort that you want to master. Between mastering the game and trying to get the high scores, a person can sink into a game for hours without realizing it. There are tons of addicting games on Android. Unfortunately, they’re not all equal. Here are the most addictive games for Android!

Some games are perfect for when we're on the go. We can play them in order to pass the time, or have a match or two while we're waiting in line at the doctor's office.

Others are not like that, they are so addictive that we forget when we started playing, if we've eaten or not, or if it's night or day outside. They are addictive beyond reason, and if you've played even one of these games on the list, then you probably know what I'm talking about.

Be careful! Today's list is full of highly addicting games that will monopolize your time and make you forget most of your daily routines.

You have been warned...

Minecraft

Minecraft is all about going on adventures, digging, crafting and building something from scratch, which is what makes this game super fun and addicting.

You can do practically anything you want, as it has multiple available mods, some of which are more demanding, like the survival mode, and some where you can do basically anything.

minecraft

You can travel, explore the vast lands and the amazing endless map, and have a lot of fun in the process.

Since its release back in 2011, it has been wildly popular, especially among younger audiences. The great thing about the game is that it wakes up your creative and crafty side and keeps your interest by including exploration, travel, building and crafting all in one game.

Sky Force Reloaded

Sky Force Reloaded is the latest in the Sky Force franchise. They’re a series of top-down shooters where you fly into danger, blow stuff up, and try to survive through the end of the level. Additionally, there are little side quests you can do mid-level such as saving people trapped in the middle of combat. The game is beautifully done, it plays smooth, and there are plenty of things to do. That includes upgrading your ship to make it more powerful. It’s a ton of fun and it’s easy to play it over and over again..

DOTA 2

DOTA 2 is a free-to-play MOBA game that was released back in 2013, as a sequel to DotA (Defense of the Ancients).

The interesting thing about DOTA 2 is that it keeps you playing for hours on end, going from one match to the next, as you try to improve your skills and get better with each match you play.

dota2

The matches in DOTA 2 involve two different teams with separate bases. The teams consist of 5 players each, and each of those players controls a different character or hero that has its own unique abilities.

Each player can collect items and experience points which will help him or her in battle afterwards. The team that manages to destroy the base of the opposing team first is the winner.

Alto’s Odyssey and Alto’s Adventure

Alto’s Odyssey and Alto’s Adventure are two excellent arcade games. They are also both excellently addictive games. You ski down a massive hill and do a bunch of tricks. That’s basically the whole game, but there are obstacles, environment changes, and various items to collect. These games have beautiful colors and simple mechanics. They are also freemium, but most people don’t need to pay anything. The developers make more money off of the advertising than they do off of the freemium content. These are excellent, easy to play, and addictive.

Counter-Strike

Counter-Strike is a FPS game that was first released back in 1999. Since then there have been a lot of sequels released, the latest one being Counter-Strike: GO, which is a wildly popular sequel, especially among streamers.

But what we're here to talk about today is the very first/original and highly addictive version of the game, that was really popular when I was in primary school.

counter strike

The game puts a team of Counter-Terrorists and Terrorists against each other in a fast-paced gameplay where each team needs to complete specific objectives and/or eliminate the other team's members in order to win.

The terrorists' job is to hold people hostage, or plant and detonate a bomb, while the counter-terrorists try to defuse the bomb or rescue the hostages. The gameplay depends mostly on the maps you choose to play. You have the option to choose between hostage rescue maps, bomb defuse maps, assassination and escape maps. The most played maps on Counter-Strike are: cs_italy, cs_assault, de_dust, de_aztec, de_train and many more.

Grand Theft Auto V

What's addicting about the GTA series, including its most popular sequel GTA 5, is the fact that they allow players to live out their darkest and scariest fantasies in a safe environment, and blow off some steam while also enjoying very interesting and trilling missions.

grand theft auto v

The game offers players tons of in-game options, which means that they can organize their gameplay however they want. They can choose to go on missions and enter into wild car chases, or roam around the map, exploring and doing whatever it is they want.

The game has a huge array of cars and weapons to choose from, and a vast and beautiful environment to explore, which makes it one of the most addicting games ever made.

PUBG

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds or PUBG is a Battle Royale survival game that was released in 2017 and immediately blew up.

The game received really positive reviews by the gaming community and was among the most addictive and popular games of 2017 and 2018.

pubg

The thing that makes this game so addicting is the fact that you always feel like you can do a bit better next time, which makes you lose track of time, trying to improve on your mistakes in order to be the last player standing out of a hundred players.

The gameplay is very fast paced and trilling which makes it so fun and addictive.

PUBG is a PvP game that pits 100 players against each other in a last-man-standing battle on a vast map with resources and weapons which they can use to gain an edge over the other players. PUBG can be played solo and in a team of up to 4 people, where the last team or person standing is the winner.

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is a MMORPG with awesome features, stories and gameplay where each player controls his or her own avatar, explores the map, fights against various monsters, interacts with other players or non-player characters, and completes quests.

The game is highly addicting and has a few different modes that will keep you engaged for hours at a time.

Here are the modes available in WoW:

  • Normal (PvE) mode where you need to complete quests and defeat monsters
  • PvP, where in addition to fighting against monsters and completing quests you can also engage in open PvP combat
  • Roleplay mode and
  • A combination of roleplay and PvP

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an action RPG, and the fifth sequel of the Elder Scrolls series. Your main quest as a player is to destroy Alduin, a dragon that wants to destroy the world. The game is set in the fictional place known as Skyrim, and allows the players to roam freely and explore the open world, as they did in the previous installments.

the elder scrolls v skyrim

Players can navigate through villages, towns, cities, dungeons and fortresses by horse or through a fast travelling system that allows them to jump to previously seen locations.

Players can choose whether or not they want to develop their own individual character, as well as whether they'd like to go on the main quest, or completely ignore it and organize their gameplay as they wish.

Overwatch

Overwatch is a multiplayer FPS, where two teams of 6 people compete against each other until there's only one team left.

Here's how the game works:

overwatch

First thing you need to do is choose your hero, and decide which role you want to have: offence, defense, tank or support.

Each role comes with its own responsibilities and powers, and has certain goals that need to be achieved.

What makes Overwatch so addicting is the fact that the heroes can battle in different locations across the world. Each map has a specific and unique layout, and specific conditions which you need to meet before you can win. That's what makes the game always fun and exhilarating.

Diablo III

Diablo III is an action RPG set in a demonically-besieged world, where players can choose between 7 different characters: Demon Hunter, Crusader, Barbarian, Monk, Witch Doctor, Necromancer or Wizard. Their primary task is to defeat the Lord of Terror, known as Diablo.

diablo 3

You can play the game solo or in a team of up to four people. The game is easy to play and popular among all generations of players. It's pretty much considered as an evergreen game where you can come back and play it after years have passed, and still be able to enjoy it, although I'm not sure if you can actually go a few years without playing it, since it's a highly addictive game.

The Sims 4

The Sims 4 is the latest release from the Sims series that was released earlier this year. The Sims is a life simulation game, that doesn't necessarily have any particular goals. That's what makes it appealing to so many people, because it gives them the freedom to organize their gameplay however they wish.

sims 4

For those of you who are not familiar with the Sims, here's how it works. You need to create a home and virtual people to live there. You can also have your Sims in previously constructed homes if you don't want to build one yourself. Once this part is done, what you need to do is take care of your Sims and make sure they're satisfied. Sims are very complex individuals with specific desires, needs and fears. They can have both a unique personality and physical appearance, which makes each of them different in their own way.

Your job is to organize their daily lives from birth to death, taking care of their needs, desires and everything else.

League of Legends

League of Legends or LoL for short is a MOBA video game where players assume the role of a summoner and use it to control their champion. Each champion has special and unique abilities which he or she controls.

There are several different modes available, although the main goal is usually to destroy the other team's nexus, which can be found in their base.

league of legends

Each champion can increase their strength and gain an edge over the other players by accumulating experience and items along the way.

LoL has an extensive and devoted fan base, and its popularity has grown tremendously upon its release a decade ago.

Fortnite Battle Royale

Fortnite Battle Royale is one of the freshest games on today's list that managed to gain unimaginable popularity since its release less than a year ago.

Today, Fortnite Battle Royale is the number one most popular game on Twitch, and one of the most searched games on Google in 2018.

Much of its popularity is due to the fact that it's free-to-play, as well as the fact that its gameplay is highly addicting and interesting, and will have you engaged for hours at a time, without even noticing it.

fortnite

The concept of the game is similar to PUBG's, although it differs a lot in the art work, the uniqueness of characters, skins and some weapons, as well as the building component that makes the game what it is.

Basically, the game follows the Battle Royale format, as it pits 100 players against each other until only one of them survives. All players are parachuted on an island where they need to look for weapons, ammo, bandages, armor and other accessories that will help them survive. They can collect materials which can later on be used to build shelter, or to better traverse the map.

They need to stay clear of the ever-approaching storm, and avoid getting killed from other players.

The game can be played solo and in a team of up to four people, and it is a truly fun and adrenaline-filled experience, which always keeps you coming back for more.

Fallout 4

Fallout 4 is also a post-apocalyptic game, same as Fortnite, but with quite a different gameplay.

In the Fallout series each player takes control over a character known as the Sole Survivor that has been in cryogenic stasis and emerges out of the fallout shelter, two centuries after the Great War, and the nuclear devastation it lead to.

fallout 4

The gameplay is similar to that of the previous installations in the series, with a few additional features and a new equipment system.

The game features an impressive amount of dialogue, 111,000 lines to be exact, although players can leave each conversation whenever they want and choose to roam the map freely, spending hours and hours of time totally engaged and immersed in the game.

StarCraft 2

You won't even notice the time fly while you engage in unique real-time battles all across the galaxy, with three different races.

You start out with just one match and the next thing you know it's five hours later and you're still as engaged and excited as you were for the numerous previous battles you played.

starcraft 2

StarCraft 2 is a super fun way to pass the time, as it offers a really interesting real-time strategy gameplay and demands a lot of thinking and planning in order to win.

Cytus II

Ctyus II is easily among the best rhythm games on mobile right now. Yes, there are actually decent rhythm games on mobile. Cytus II (and its predecessor) are excellent examples. It has a variety of tap and swipe mechanics with an anime and J-Pop theme. It’s upbeat, fast paced, and it has plenty of songs to play. The free version has a decent number of tracks in various difficulties. You can purchase song packs as in-app purchases. They are permanent additions. That means this one isn’t a freemium game.
